The House and its setting

4 Upper Fisher Row is a centrally located Victorian terraced house situated by the canal, and a stone's throw from the train station and the bus station.

It is in a cul de sac, and overlooks the Oxford Canal.  Newly decorated,  it is available for rental for short breaks and holidays. It is ideal for weekends and perfect for visiting this historic city with its University, museums, theatre and unique character.

The house has 3 bedrooms and a sofabed. There are 2 double beds (4'6") and 1 twin room. There is also a sofabed for exceptional use and a separate study (photo below) that could be turned into a baby room: we can supply a travel cot. Linen and towels are provided and we can provide a welcome pack of essential groceries.

There is a washing machine, dryer, oven, microwave, a shower and wc on the ground floor and a bath with shower and WC on the first floor.  The rear garden runs down to a stream.

Things to do in and around Oxford

There is easy access to London via train, and cars can be hired in the city centre for access to the Cotswolds and Stratford.  Oxford has excellent theatre and occasional festivals from the Art Weeks in May to the Literary Festival in the spring.  There are Alumni events at various times, and classical concerts to be enjoyed in the Sheldonian theatre, or the  Holywell Music rooms.

Tours can be taken of Oxford on a cycle rickshaw, or pedicab with the company Oxon Carts with whom you will visit the back streets of Oxford that so many visitors can easily miss. (see below for link)

Eating out in Oxford

Oxford has restaurants of all types and to suit all budgets ranging from gastro pubs, to Raymond Blanc's brasserie.  All cuisines are available and Jamie Oliver has  recently opened an Italian bistro within 200 yards of Upper Fisher Row.  The Oxford Retreat is an excellent local restaurant at the end of the street, with an outside terrace and The Anchor Inn on Hayfield road is a personal favourite for its brilliant chef and seasonal menu.
